Vision

Where there is no vision, the people perish" - Proverbs 29:18a
vision booklet (.pdf )

Our vision is to make disciples and equip them to accomplish the Lord's mission, where He directs. We accomplish our vision by knowing our mission, where our mission takes us and how we accomplish our mission.

As our fellowship grows our vision is also continues to grow. Consequently, we are a fellowship in the process of constant development by God.

Our Mission
Matthew 28: 19-20 - "Go into all the world and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I command you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of age."

Where our Mission Takes Us
Acts 1:8 - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

The geography of our ministry is therefore defined as:
• Jerusalem – Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg and Missions within the boundaries of Fredericksburg
• Judea – Virginia
• Samaria – United States
• Remotest part of the earth – Missions overseas.

How We Accomplish Our Mission
Acts 2:42 - "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."

Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg must equip the body for the mission that the Lord has given us to accomplish. We do this in three segments: Reaching Up , Reaching In & Reaching Out.

Reaching Up

Recognize that the head of the church is Jesus Christ, and we are the body
Colossians 1:18 - "He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything."

Ephesians 1:22 - "And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church."

Eph. 4:15-16 - "But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love."

We are to reach up to Jesus where we grow up in the power and unity of Christ.

Relying on the power of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit empowers the church body to bring glory to Jesus and to minister to one another.

How this is accomplished at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg:

We abide with the Lord in His Word and thereby grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus. 2 Peter 3:18 - "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen."

We allow the Holy Spirit to have full control of our services and lives. Eph 5:18 - "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."

We live a life totally dependent on God’s grace through the power of the Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:6 -"Then he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ' Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts."

We seek His leading as He gifts us for His service. 1 Peter 4:10 - "As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."

Prayer
Colossians 4:2 - "Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving."

Prayer is the expression of our dependence upon God and it is the most important part of ministry. In Acts 6, it was prayer and then the Word – prayer is where the power is and before we share there must be prayer.

how this is accomplished at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg:

  • encouraging the body to meet weekly with others for prayer.
  • men’s prayer
  • women’s prayer
  • prayer chain
  • home fellowships

Praise
Psalm 29:2 - “Give unto the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." Psalm 96:9 - "Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth."

The worship of God should be inspirational. Our praises exalt the position, power, and authority of God in our lives.

how this is accomplished at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg:

  • giving a special place to music in our worship as we lift up our hearts and our voices to God on Sunday and Wednesday worship services.
  • worship during Communion Sunday.
  • worship at the Men’s and Women’s studies and retreats.
  • worship at home fellowships.
  • Christmas and special events
  • making CD’s available in the Bookstore.

Reaching In

Study of the Word
Acts 2:42a - "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine."

The word of God is the standard for all that we believe and all that we stand on in the church.

how this is accomplished at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg:

  • being devoted to teach the word of God verse by verse in our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services
  • our youth are offered a time in the word to equip and prepare them for the work that God will call them to
  • our children are taught the Word at their level on Sunday morning and during Pioneer Clubs
  • new believers class
  • discipleship series worksheets
  • home fellowships
  • Plugged Into Christ
  • cassette tape and CD duplication of messages

Fellowship
Hebrews 10:24-25 - "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

Whenever the Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg body comes together we minister one-to-another as we grow in the Lord.

how this is accomplished at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg:

  • after each service in the Fire Escape
  • annual church picnic/baptism
  • potlucks
  • family/married couple’s events
  • men and women events: retreats, etc.
  • various church adult and youth outings
  • new member’s receptions
  • home fellowships

The Lords Supper
1 Corinthians 11:26 -“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.”

Communion is God’s way of reminding us of His Son’s Sacrifice on the cross.

how this is accomplished at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg:

  • celebrating the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday morning of the month
  • monthly communion service
  • home fellowships
  • retreats
  • youth communion Sunday

Reaching Out

Being a Witness
Colossians 1:27 - "To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."

2 Timothy 2:15 - "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. "

Each member of the body lives a life that reflects Christ, letting their light shine before men, creating a thirst for God and ready to give the reason for their hope.

Evangelism:
Philemon 1:6 - "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ."

This is the body reaching outside the walls of Calvary Chapel to those who need to know the Gospel. We come full circle in our mission as outlined in Matthew 28: 19-20

how this is accomplished at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg:

  • Vacation Bible School
  • outreaches into other countries
  • feeding the homeless in Fredericksburg
  • supporting missionaries and other ministries
  • tape and CD mail outs to non-members and jail ministries.
  • personal evangelism by members

Where Do You Fit In?
1. Present yourself to God
Romans 12:1 – "Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, {which is} your spiritual service of worship."

2. As you grow in your relationship with God, let Him prepare you for effective service. Discover your gifts and the calling of God in your own life as you worship and grow with us in His Word.
Ephesians 4:11-12 - "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
1 Peter 4:10 - "As each one has received a {special} gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."

3. Christian Ministry is service to God and man as an obedient Christian. A Christian servant ministers to God and man in acts of love. Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 4:11 - "Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."

4. Lastly, we should say, as did Isaiah, "Here am I! Send me." (Isaiah 6:8b)
